How To Get The Lingerie Look for A/W 2016

The Lingerie Look can be described in a number of ways; romantic, ballerina style, lounge wear, petticoat lane, bohemian. If any of these descriptions appeal to you then I’m going to let you in on a few trade secrets of how to successfully put your look together!

To get the ‘lingerie look’, opt for garments that drape, slink & shimmer. Fabrics like silk, satin, chiffon, lace & soft cotton are commonly used in pieces that are perfect for lingerie inspired fashion.

The key to putting this look together is to tastefully layer the more delicate pieces with items that give a good base.

Starting with tops, look out for camisole tanks, bodysuits, corset bodices, sheer & lace blouses, draping or slinky tunics & anything that resembles soft luxury. Team these pieces with skinny jeans, leather pants,  tube skirts, flared trousers & ruffled skirts (if you’re a girly girl at heart). For warmth add long line cardigans in fine knit, draping jackets or a velvet blazer.

When you want a dress in the ‘lingerie look’, opt for 30’s style opulence in cut on the bias gowns, slip dresses, along with frocks that are ruffled & softly draped. Layer your dress with faux fur, velvet jackets, fabulous heels & jewels to make your look complete. These style of dresses are not just for night! Team them with day appropriate cover ups & accessories, as well as adding a pair of boots.

For the bottom half choose skirts that drape beautifully or are ruffled in a romantic way. Trousers that flare or are wide leg in fluid fabric, will give the impression of drape & work perfectly with the lingerie look. Team them with ruffled or camisole tops & body suits.
