Have you ever wondered whether it is worth a shopping trip out to DFO Perth? The newly established Direct Factory Outlet Shopping Centre near the Perth Airport, offers a selection of designer and high street labels for discounted prices. Not totally convinced myself of it’s shopping worth, I decided to check out DFO Perth for myself.

Being a plus size I wasn’t sure how well I would be able to shop for my size, considering that a DFO Outlet is all about shopping for previous season and stock from retailers. I have to admit I was quite surprised with the bargains I came away with!

How To Shop The Sales!

The way to shopping well, whether it’s at a DFO Centre or at the sales, is to go in with a plan of attack. It is really easy to spend up big because you are thinking it’s a bargain, only to come home with a lot of items that just don’t work. Firstly, know your body shape! Finding clothes to fit is one thing, but finding clothes that actually work on your shape is the key to successful dressing. Secondly, know your wardrobe! Being able to mix and match your newly purchased sale items in with your existing clothes, means they have a place and a purpose in your wardrobe. Pause for a moment during your shopping and ask yourself; ‘will this item work with the clothes I already have’ and/or ‘do I have an occasion in which to wear it’? Thirdly, know your style! Don’t accept any sale item just because it fits and it’s cheap. Take a moment to consider if it really speaks to your style aesthetic and also if the colour will suit you.

Perth DFO has a wide range of retailers to choose from such as; sporting/athletic wear, designer, footwear, ladies, men’s, teenage/young adult’s and children’s high street stores. I was surprised to find a wide range of women’s sizes on the day I visited. You do have to pay for parking, it’s not overly expensive and the first hour is free. There are food outlets and coffee shops, so you can take a break. I spent around 3 hours on my visit and found that was plenty of time to go to the stores I was interested in. DFO Perth get’s the thumbs up from me! I came away with black embellished jeans & a military style wrap skirt from City Chic; scarf print dress, t’shirt, floral jacket, camisole top and stripe wrap shirt from Decjuba; as well as a pair of embellished ankle boots from Famous Footwear. As you can see from the photos included in this post, I have been able to mix and match my purchased items into my wardrobe. I’d call that successful bargain shopping!
